This is a small family-run winery that placed Heathcote on the map with the highest-ever Robert Parker score for an Australian wine (Duck Muck 1997). Everything is hand-picked, open fermented, hand-plunged and basket-pressed. Biodynamic principles are used in their own vineyards.
Its fabulous intensity bursts from the glass. Think dark fruit compote, earth and signature spice. The Shiraz has finesse and is laden with plums and mocha. The Malbec adding mulberries and a herbal hint. The seductive fruit tannins are a real feature. One of their favourite releases to date of the Yellow Hammer Hill, the wine is wonderfully bright. Matured in old oak hogsheads for 22 months, it has great length, an attractive herbal finish, and wonderful savouriness. Drink now until 2024.
